It's Show Time!

This just in: April showers and no more roof leak!

It has been a long winter, and I am ready to take this show on the road. Will it play in Peoria? We shall see, as my first show of the summer, the Peoria Heights Fine Art Fair, is on May 11th, in Peoria Heights, Illinois. I’m very excited to return to my hometown and hope to see old friends, maybe even my high school art teacher and midwife! For several Saturdays this summer, I will be showing at the Columbus Farmer’s Market, where I was a vendor too many years ago. On August 10th I will be at the Bloomington, A Fair of the Arts - a first!

Time to check the condition of my tent on the next sunny day. It has been in storage for several years. I hope it fits in my Prius…

I have spent the last few months diligently working on my website, but I feel it takes me ten times longer to do anything digital or technical. Sorry, Squarespace, you tried to make it easy, but I am ready for some fun in the sun (as in, no rain on the day of my event, please)! I am also convinced that my jewelry makes a better impression at shows. I might put off pricing until the last hour, and packing the car and setting up can be a job, but it’s always fun staging the booth, where I can use such things as doll’s dresser, little mouse bookends or glittery postcards to display my jewelry. Like TJMaxx, it’s never the same place twice!

Most of all, I enjoy connecting with people who find pieces of jewelry that speak to them, or is the perfect gift for that loved one that likes unique things. I’m convinced that you can’t predict how something is going to look without trying it on. This is a labor of love, and there is nothing more gratifying than seeing something look so much better on than expected. It’s even more fun when there is a group of friends, often not husbands or children, who do the exclaiming and encouraging.

So, check out New Events and look for my Turandot Designs banner, and me! See you there!
